After each second session of data collection, if the school wishes, we have been running a workshop on verbal bullying, following a lesson plan published by the Anti-Bullying Alliance (see link for details).
The pupils have to sort through a series of verbal bullying incidents, to decide whether what happened was actually ‘right’, ‘okay with friends’, ‘depends on the situation’, or was ‘wrong’. Pupils have thoroughly enjoyed this activity. They find that the class is divided on certain potential incidences of verbal bullying, and each class member is able to form an opinion on each incident, leading to plenty of thoughtful discussion.
