Rebecca recently completed her Masters in Counselling Psychology at Keele University (2011). Prior to this Rebecca took her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Education at Lancaster University (2001).
Following her degree Rebecca worked as a Management Consultant for Accenture, specialising in the areas of Change Management and Human Performance. Rebecca’s MSc dissertation explored how fear and shame can affect self-acceptance.
Rebecca is currently working as a counsellor with both adults and children. She aims to work towards professional accreditation as a counselling psychologist, and is also interested in the use of play-therapy with children. In her work as a volunteer counsellor in primary and secondary schools, Rebecca has experienced the issues associated with bullying and the negative effects that this can have on a child’s self-esteem. It is for this reason that Rebecca was interested in joining the research team and contributing to a piece of research which will help to inform the issue of bullying within schools.
Rebecca is very happy to be joining the research team as it will give her valuable experience of conducting research with children in schools. She also feels that her role as a child counsellor will benefit hugely through involvement with the project.
